Minutes of the Meeting of West Bridgford Bridge Cub held on Monday 16th November 2015

Present: Shiona Dawson (chair), Ian Dovey, Clive Goode, David Hazeldine Apologies: Tim Anderson

1.  Matters Arising From Previous Meeting

1.1 The majority of the items from the previous meeting related to the move to the Golf Centre. This has now been completed successfully.

1.2 Dates for the internal competitions will be confirmed when the team of 8 matches have been arranged.

3.  DVDs

The club has a DVD library containing 18 Bernard Magee DVDs. Each DVD covers a specific topic and lasts around 90 minutes in 2 sections. A further 12 DVDs are available and it is proposed to purchase 6 more at a discount price.

4.  Christmas Party

The Christmas Party will take place on 14th December. There will be normal Bridge followed by a quiz. Light refreshments (rather than the previous more substantial spread) will be provided.

5.  Directors

David Beaumont and David Dunford have agreed to go on the Directors list. The club will contribute 50% of any Directors courses attended.

6.  Publicising The Club

A poster advertising the club will be produced and put up at the Golf Club. Action: SD Other locations such as libraries, local shops, etc. will also be considered.  Action: All The possibility of advertising in local free/community publications will also be considered. Action: DH

7.  County Measures

To Raise Interest In Bridge There has been no feedback yet from the survey undertaken by the county. This is expected at the next county committee meeting (3/4/ weeks?).  Action: ID/TA As a local initiative we should contact other clubs in our area and investigate if some form of joint venture would be feasible.  Action: DH/SD

8.  Web-Site

The web-site has some out-of date information on the first page – this needs tidying up. A new section to hold the Teams of 8 results will be added.  Action: TA

9.  Date of Next Meeting

The next committee meeting will be held towards the end of January. SD to confirm date.
