Competition Rules 2016

Master Cup

This single winner competition, starting on the 1st bridge session of Jan each year, will be open to all members with an EBU ranking below that of Master.  They will have accrued a running total of no more than 5000 master pts by the 1st December of the relevant competition year.  Results played with higher ranking members will not be included in the competition.   The result will be taken from averaging all qualifying results.  A minimum of 25 plays with  partners below Master are needed to qualify. All bridge sessions whether Monday, Wednesday or Friday will be taken into account during the period 1st Jan 2016 to 1st Dec 2016

Partnership Pairs

This pairs competition, starting on the 1st bridge session of Jan each year, will be open to all members. The result will be taken from averaging all results with the same partner.  A minimum of 25 plays are needed to qualify.  All bridge sessions whether Monday, Wednesday or Friday will be taken into account during the period 1st Jan 2016 to 1st Dec 2016

Individual

This single winner competion, starting on the 1st bridge session of Jan until the end of November, will be open to all members.  The result will be taken from averaging all results.  A minimum of 30 plays are needed to qualify.  All bridge sessions whether Monday, Wednesday or Friday will be taken into account

 

President's Individual Handicap Trophy (Wed)

This competition consists of 6 events, running on alternate months, commencing in February each year and is a two winner format

The best 4 results for each eligible individual player will be assessed for the final result.  Each eligible player must play with 3 different partners.

Each player will have their own handicap which will be published.  This handicap is computer generated by Bridgwebs over a 12 month rolling basis.  New players will be allocated a handicap of 5 until a unique personal handicap can be calculated after 5 sessions.

The winner of the competition will be the player with the highest percentage gained from the best 4 qualifying events.

Non-eligible players will compete in normal club play bridge.

 

Championship Pairs

This is a one event only competition held on a Monday in September and is a first past the post single winner competition

 

Monday and Wednesday Ladder Pairs

These competitions take place over 11 months of the year from Jan to Nov

They are  two winner laddered pairs events, with 20 points awarded to the winner, 18 to second place down to 2 for the tenth placed pair.

This scoring will be awarded irrespective of the percentage result obtained or how many tables are in play.

The final result will be taken from averaging the sum of a pairs' six best results.  Should there be a draw at the end of the competition, an average of a pairs' percentage gained from a pairs' six best results will be taken. The pair with the highest average score will be declared the winner.

The result will be published at the end of the year.

The same two players only constitute a pair.

 

Friday Champion

The Friday competition takes place over 11 months of the year from Jan to the end of Nov.

This single winner competition, starting on the 1st Friday session of Jan each year, will be open to all members.    A minimum of 20 plays are needed to qualify. 

The scoring will be laddered, with 20 awarded to the winner, 18 to second place down to 2 for the tenth place. The final result will be taken from averaging the sum of all results.

This scoring will be awarded irrespective of the percentage result obtained or how many tables are in play.

 

Members will be able to monitor their standings via the competitions menu in Bridgewebs
