There are some minor changes to the venue this season. For the Sunday events, except for the Corsham Pairs, all are now at the Bowls Club, including the AGM (which is a month earlier than usual on 6th April). For the league evenings, the Bowls Club is still the main venue, but there are two Premier League evenings (6th November & 5th March) and two League 2/3 evenings (4TH December & 5th February) which are at Semington Village Hall. Semington Hall is in the centre of the village; having turned off the A361, it is on the left hand side of the main street, after passing Pound Lane on the left and Church Street on the right and is three houses before the Somerset Arms. There is a small car park, and you can also park on the street. Starting times for events are at 2pm and 7.15pm as last season.
We will be running three leagues again this year, in the same format as last season, with the Premier League and Leagues 2 & 3. League 3 is the equivalent of the former Allcomers League, and is the gentlest of the leagues and a good introduction to team play. It is aimed at improvers and less experienced club players who may not have played teams before, as well as those who are new to County competitions and in any case would not be open to any player of Tournament Master or above. League 2 is the ‘intermediate’ league. The aim is to provide a place where more experienced club players will feel comfortable, and a new challenge for those who’ve already done well in League 3 and there are no EBU rank restrictions for entry. The Premier League remains as before and is where the winners represent the County in the national Pachabo teams event, so competition is pretty tough
It would help the committee enormously for planning purposes if you could please enter the teams for the Premier League and Leagues 2 and 3 before 1st August.
