About the Club, and our AGM

Wangaratta Bridge Club (formerly the Ovens and Murray Bridge Club) has 35 members, and visitors are always welcome.

We have our own club rooms, and these are located in Evans Street (near the corner of Evans and Grey Street), not far north of the Wangaratta CBD.

There is plenty of parking in Evans Street, and the riverside walking path is only a few metres away.

See our Session Times for dates/time of play.

Our 2023 AGM was held on September 19, and these are the minutes of that meeting.

PRESENTATION BY POINTS SECRETARY:

Chris said that his job had been lightened by the team effort put in by some members. We have had a successful year, with playing numbers up, and we have entered the Nation -Wide Pairs twice. He felt there was a need to upgrade our software and had seen Computer Score used successfully in other places during his travels. As there is a free one-month trial period, there is opportunity to try before we buy. This would not mean any change to the dealing machine or to the Bridgemates.

ELECTION OF OFFICE BEARERS:  Roger vacated the chair so that John Witte could oversee the election of the new office bearers.

  • President – Roger Dadd nominated by Colleen Cairns
  • Vice President –  Sonia Bihun nominated by Marie Wallis

  • Treasurer – Lef Lazarou nominated by Yvonne McLaughlin

  • Yvonne Mclaughlin nominated Marie Wallis as a Committee member. Marie accepted the nomination.
  • Chris McLaughlin nominated Mike Glennister for the position of Master Points Secretary and committee member. Mike accepted.
  • John Witte nominated Mark Rosenow as a committee member. Mark accepted.

  1. John proposed a motion that Mike and Chris be empowered to download a copy of Computer Score for club trial. If we are satisfied, we could then move on to purchase.

Seconded by Sonia. Carried.

  1. The vacant position of Director was offered to Mark Rosenow, who accepted, on the understanding that other club members will undertake training in Bridge rules etc.
  2. Roger stated that our website is out of date, and that we need to bring the club forward electronically on all fronts.
  3. Paul queried our position with Council. Do we need to record club activities, in case of questions from the?  Mike suggested a desk diary would cover this, but Mark explained that relevant information can be readily downloaded from the computer. However, should Council decide that our club house is surplus to Council needs for the new precinct, there would be little that we could do about it.

Meeting closed for play at 6:55 pm.
