Located in Vero Beach Florida, the Vero Beach Bridge Center is a member-owned bridge club. We host daily bridge games, duplicate bridge tournaments, bridge classes for all levels, celebrity speakers, and student games for new players which are all sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge League. In fact, the size of our club allows us to hold many restricted games for up and coming players, no need to swim with the sharks!
Pre-dealt boards for pair games mean no shuffling and hand records are available after each game, whether for the daily bridge play or on-site duplicate bridge tournaments. The use of Bridgemate II allows results to be ready immediately following the game.
We have one of the best duplicate bridge clubs in Florida, if not the nation.
We are currently ranked at #4 in North America for 2017 based on the number of tables of bridge played thus far!
Here you will find a lot of good material for players of all levels.
For beginners and novices check out the learn mini-bridge and play mini-bridge links near the bottom of the page.
THe Bridge World link and Bridge Master ( level 1 and level2) also have material meant for those that are relatively new to the game.
AS you gain experience and for those with more experience, almost any of these sites are worth a look. Bridge Master can follow you all the way to expert level status.
Believe it or Not. Though Bridge World Magazine is considered by some as for "experts only", it has a lot of material that caters to advanced players.
Even less well known is they have a fine FREE learning ection on their webpage. Just click on this story to go to their learn section. There you will find material catering to beginners, elementary and intermediate.
The Bridge Master Series is perhaps the best way to improve your declarer play. And now, Bridge Base has made the series free and put it on the outside of their website. Fantastic, Convenient and Free.
Larry Cohen is a well known figure in bridge and in Vero Beach. He has held several well attended events at the VBBC and at John's Island Club.
On his website you can explore his learning center, check out his store or see where in the world he is teaching next.
If you put the search term practice deals in the search window in the upper right corner of his website you will find a list of short articles, each with FOUR practice hands you can bid and play. (You might also try the search term practice hands for a few additional topics).
Topics at last check included: Slam Bidding--RKC, Fourth Suit Forcing, Reverses, Counting, Defensive Signals (Signaling), Balancing on the 1-level, Negative Doubles, Two-Over-One GF, 1NT Forcing, Defense--3rd Hand Play, Trick One, Lead-Directing Doubles, Defense--Passive or Aggressive, Redoubles, Takeout Doubles, Support Doubles, Capturing the Queen, Cuebids, After the Opponents Overcall, Negative Double, Michaels Cue Bid, Takeout Doubles, Notrump Play Overview, What are the Odds?
Gavin Wolpert, Jason Feldman and Daniel Korbel's fine Bridge website.
There are a host of articles published here, too many in some ways. Search by your favorite author is available.
Gavin Wolpert's board by board, card by card recounting of his and Joel Wooldridge's national championship win in the 2011 NABC Open Pairs (Sidney Silodar Pairs)
Vu-Bridge's U.S. Home Page
Another subscription site. Their interface is used by many top teachers in the field.
You may have noticed that any hand you play at the club may be replayed at home. To access this feature, go to results for that day and then select yours (or someone else's for that matter!) and when the scores and the hand record pop up, under the hand record you will see a button that says play it again. Click on it. This works great for any game but you can also go direct to their website if you want to be able to load hands into their service.
This is a subscription site, I must say though they do a good job and the interface is a pleasure.
You can check out sample material before subscribing.
Lots of free articles
Feel free to read the home page. Most of the good stuff, including the chance to play 80 "Early learning" hands is under ACTIVITIES, top center of the page.
