Bridge for all
Lessons in bridge, following the English Bridge Union (EBU) “Bridge for all” programme, will commence in October 2016. The programme will be in two parts, the first half will be between October and December 2016. The second half will take place between January and March 2017. At the end of the course attendees should have the confidence and ability to enter a friendly duplicate bridge competition at a bridge club.
Lessons will be enjoyable and inter-active concentrating upon getting attendees playing cards from the off. In addition to attendance at weekly lessons attendees will be encouraged to self-teach utilising materials and books recommended by the EBU.
The bridge lessons will be given by Derek Connelly (EBU accredited teacher) who has the support of many local bridge clubs and their members. Local experienced players will be encouraged to attend and to assist and help in the learning programme.
Lessons will take place at the Berkhamsted Bowls Club, Broadwater HP4 2AA, in central Berkhamsted. The bowls club has a thriving bridge club and excellent comfortable warm facilities in well-lit ideal card playing conditions. There is ample free parking and the lessons will take place on Friday mornings between 9.30 a.m. and 12.15. There will be a short break for tea or coffee and biscuits.
