Geraldine O'Flynn T/4 - Final Ranking |
Please be advised that the issuing of Final Ranking results for the Geraldine O'Flynn T/4 has been deferred.
Last night dissatisfaction with the handicaps which I produced for the above competition was expressed to me and to the President of the Tribes Bridge Club, Mary Dolan.
I have spent the past few years developing models for the generation of handicaps, principally for pairs competitions, based on actual player performance rather than perceptions of what handicaps individuals should be awarded. The models and methods used are transparent and are devoid of personal influences as to the awarding of handicaps. In my previous email I outlined the method I recently used to generate the formula for calculating T/4 handicaps. I can do no more.
As my efforts seem to be unacceptable to some I have advised Mary that I will remove myself from the position of generating handicaps and the related servicing of the website so that someone else may assume responsibility for these tasks.

National Intermediate 'B' Team of Four Championship (Tierney Trophy) - Runners-Up |
Congratulations to Tribes Bridge Club members Margaret Forde and Orla O'Carroll who, together with team-mates, Fiona Place and Andree Concannon, finished a very close 2nd in the National Intermediate 'B' T/4 Championships which were held this past weekend in Ballinasloe. A bittersweet moment for the 4 team-mates who were leading the competition going into the last round and were unfortunatnately overtaken as the finish line beckoned. But a mighty performance indeed. Finishing in 2nd place in a National Championship is no mean feat! Well done to all four players.
