Sad news on the Connacht Tribune website re the announcement of the impending demolition of the Warwick Hotel

which was home to the Tribes Bridge Club for the first decade of its existence.

It is with much sadness that we advise members of the death of Phil Carney who passed away on Thursday, 21st July. Phil was a former member of the Tribes Bridge Club over many years.

Funeral arrangements as per www.rip.ie

Reposing at the Holy Family Funeral Parlour, Mervue on Friday, 22nd July from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Removal on Saturday, 23rd July from the family home to arrive at St. Columba’s Church, Castlegar for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Funeral after Mass to the new cemetery, Bohermore. Family flowers only.

Congratulations to the quartet of Mary Dolan, Ann Davey, Liam Faherty and Bernie Finan on winning the Geraldine O'Flynn Team-of-Four Championship (Handicap).  It was a particularly emotional experience for Mary Dolan, daughter of Geraldine O'Flynn.

Unfortunately both Bernie Finan and Ann Davey were laid-up and could not attend last week's prize-giving. Mary and Liam accepted the cup on behalf of the team and Mary delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech.

Well done to all.  Will hope to have a photo up before long!

Congratulations to Maurice Hession & Rory Timlin, winners of the Ryder Cup. And history was made in the process because they become the first pair to win a Major Club Pairs Championship for the fourth time in a row!

And congratultions also to Anne Costello & Robert Delargy, winners of the Ryder Cup Plate for Best Intermdiate Pair.

It is with much asdness that we report the death of former member of the Tribes Bridge Club, John Moylan, who passed away on Thursday, 5th November.

The funeral took place on Sunday, 8th November, in Ardrahan.

Congratulations to Michael O'Connor who was elected as President of the Tribes Bridge Club at its AGM which was held on Thursday, 8th October.

And congratulations also to Irene Wall and Frank Reynolds who were re-elected as Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer respectively.

Also elected were Enda Glynn (Tournment Director), Colette Mulhern (Galway Congress Committee representative), Liam Faherty (Galway Bridge Centre Committee representative),

It is with much sadness that we note the recent passing of Bridie Mannion who died on 6th September. Bridie served as President of the Tribes Bridge Club in 2006/07 and subsequently acted as Hon. Treasurer for the four seasons 2007/08, 2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11.

Congratulations to Tribes Bridge Club members Enda Glynn and David Walsh who, together with tem-mates and former members of The Tribes, Donal MacAonghusa and Ciaran Coyne, recently won the Camrose Trials to select a team to represent the CBAI in the Camrose Series (Home Internationals) which will take place over two weekends in 2016: January 8/10 and March 4/6. The first weekend will take place at the City North Hotel, Gormanstown, Co. Meath. The sescond weeknd will be played at a venue in Wales.  

Well done to all four players.
