Welcome to The Warwick Bridge Club in Redhill, Surrey
The Warwick Bridge Club in Redhill, Surrey

We are a small friendly Bridge club in the centre of Redhill, Surrey, within easy reach of Reigate, Merstham, Salfords and Nutfield.

We welcome new members and visitors to play Duplicate Bridge. Speed of play is determined by those present, so it is ideal for both novice and experienced players.

We meet in the Parish room in the church hall at St Matthew's Church on Station Road every Wednesday at 7 pm; play starting at 7.15 pm. Please see Information page for more details.

History of the Club

The club was formed by a group of beginners attending bridge classes at Reigate College in 1988. The club initially played at the Norfolk Hotel and soon supported club nights of six tables. Unfortunately, for various reasons, the Norfolk proved to be an unsatisfactory venue. The location did at least provide one memorable moment when a resident crossed the room in pyjamas, walking calmly between the tables to exit on the far side, bringing an unusual silence to the gathering.

A number of other venues were tried until the club finally found St Matthews Church Hall, where we have stayed ever since. The club also took on the name of The Warwick, that being the original name of the settlement that became the town of Redhill.

Although, like most clubs, membership has fluctuated over the years, we are now experiencing signs of a healthy revival. The club is going through a period of positive change, with a revitalised committee, revised constitution and rules and a new website to bring us into the modern age. We are still looking for new members and are confident that the club will continue to grow, whilst maintaining its friendly and sociable attitude to an evening's Bridge.
