Richmond Bridge Club
Sessions for New and Improving Players

The club offers several sessions each week aimed at new and improving players. When you feel confident to play outside a classroom environment we encourage you to try one of these

Supervised Play

A teacher is present to help advise on all aspects of bidding and play.  There is no time restriction on play, and the environment is supportive and friendly.
Supervised Play is on

  • Friday at 9.45am
  • Tuesday 10.00am (9.45am for coffee) proposed start date 20th May

Novice Duplicate

Novice duplicate sessions are aimed at players who understand the basics of bridge, but still consider themselves new to the game, and wish to play in a relaxed environment.  A longer amount of time is allowed for each board compared to normal club sessions.

Novice Duplicate sessions are:

  • Tuesday morning at 10.00am
  • Thursday evening at 7.30pm. The Thursday session includes a 10 minute mini lesson  at the start.

Play and Learn

This is a combined session comprising a 14-board duplicate game, followed by a 30 minute lesson.  5 of the boards in the session are prepared by the teacher / director which are pertinent to the lesson topic of the week usually illustrating common pitfalls to avoid at the table.

The session is aimed at improvers / intermediates, and is held on:

  • Monday morning at 10.00am

Gentle Sessions

If and when you want to take the next step we have 3 Gentle Sessions.  These follow a normal competitive duplicate format, but with longer playing times.  They are restricted to improvers / intermediates and stronger players are discouraged from these sessions except in a mentoring capacity.  Sessions are held on:

  • Tuesday Evening at 7.30pm

  • Wednesday afternoon at 1.30pm

  • Friday morning at 10.00am.
