Marilyn Halton writes about her Team Winning Division 3 of the League of Four
Just to let you know that a team of your regular bridge players from the Monday and Thursday duplicate sessions have won Division 3 of the County League of 4.
Carol Simpson, Michael Simpson, Kathy Brisbourne and myself were promoted from Division 4 last year. We finished top of this league at our first attempt. We were worried that the standard of the players in Division 3 looked significantly higher than the bottom league and our plan was to try and finish in the middle and survive a drop back to the bottom league this season!
We, in fact, won all 6 matches and scored 91 out of 120 points. We even managed a win against Anders' team – I felt very intimidated playing a respected past teacher. We now have to tackle an even higher mountain next year in Division 2.
We enjoyed playing in players' houses rather than in Bridge Clubs and mostly in the afternoons, it is definitely more relaxing and less stressful. The refreshments offered were very often home baked and cooked and were a delicious feast!
This is just a terrific win and we are so delighted - Tessa and the Team
