PARKING ON OUR MONDAY SESSIONS

Unfortunately parking has become a problem at our Monday afternoon session at Chalfont Community Centre.  We have therefore, again, rented the Scout Car Park which gives us plenty of extra space.  This can be reached by going into the entrance (over the little bridge) and turning right towards the Tennis Club.  The Scouts' building is the second building along and the gates to the car park will be open.  PLEASE, IF YOU ARE FIT AND ABLE, USE THIS SPACE to allow others who visit the centre for other classes, to park their cars.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Our Weekend Away in Worthing

We had a great time at our weekend away (16 – 18 March) at The Chatsworth Hotel in Worthing.  The weather was colder than expected with snow settling on Saturday afternoon so most of us relaxed whilst others joined in the Teams Competition.  Lots of laughter, good food and best of all, lots of bridge.

STRIP AND END PLAY

Strip and End play is a way of improving the chances of making a trick, in a particular suit, by forcing an opponent to lead that suit.  This may lead to a ‘ruff and sluff’ or make them lead up to your tenace.

Think of the cards as being split into four suits:

  1. The Trump Suit : Draw as many as necessary leaving at least one in dummy.
  2.  The ‘Don’t Touch me Suit : This is generally the suit you want opponents to lead up to your or dummy’s hand.
  3. The Strip Suit : Eliminate this suit completely; Sometimes there are two Strip suits.
  4. The Exit Suit : This is the suit that you allow the opponents to win so that they are forced to lead your ‘Don’t Touch me Suit’.a

When:  Friday 8th June     Where:  Chalfont St Peter Community Centre, Main Hall       Time:   10:00 - 12:30pm approx

Cost:   £12 per head including refreshments

To book:     Contact Tessa@tessabridge.co.uk or telephone 07717 844410 with any questions
