Taverham Trophy & Challenge Trophy.
The Taverham Trophy is awarded twice yearly to the pair or individual who wins the club championship for that 6-month period (January - June or July - December). The Challenge Trophy is awarded to the pair or individual who comes runner-up.
All results over the 6-month period are eligible for inclusion except on those occasions when a member plays with a non-member. These results are ineligible for the competition.
The percentages scored on each eligible result are accumulated and the top 12 count towards the competition.
The Handicap Trophy.
The Handicap trophy is awarded twice yearly in a similar manner to the Taverham Trophy. However, all results are adjusted by the member's handicap, which is calculated based on the previous 6 months results. The Handicap Trophy is awarded to the pair or individual who wins the handicap competition.
All results over the 6-month period are eligible for inclusion except on those occasions when a member plays with a non-member. These results are ineligible for the competition.
The percentages scored, adjusted by the handicap, on each eligible result are accumulated and the top 12 count towards the competition.
Calculation of handicap
All percentages scored in a 6-month period are averaged and used towards the calculation of the handicap for the handicap competition in the following period. Any member who plays fewer than 6 times in a 6 month period is not eligible for the next competition.
The average percentage is divided into 50% and the result is used in the next competition. For example, if a member averages 47.5% in a 6-month period, then their handicap for the next competition is 50/47.5 = 1.053. All percentages in the next competition are multiplied by 1.053 and the results used to calculate their handicap percentage.
The Spring Cup & Chris Dawson Salver.
This competition occurs on the third Monday of each month from January to June (Spring Cup) and July to December (Chris Dawson Salver).
The competitions are for established partnerships of 2 where both players are members. At least 4 eligible results must be achieved at relevant events. If more are achieved the best 4 are selected.
Unlike other competitions where results are based on the % score these are based on the average of the positions achieved by the partnership. If 6 eligible placings are achieved on the nominated evenings 1st 2nd 3rd 7th 16th and 10th respectively the average of the best four is 3.25.
The Trophy will be awarded to the winning partnership with the lowest average.
