Thank you for those who attended and were patient with the organisers during the initial computer malfunction which meant that it was decided to play an 18 board pairs session instead of the previously announced individual.
There were therefore four winners of the Sunil Handa Cup this year with Harvey Quail & Tom Welch heading the North-South line and Janet Whittaker & Martyn Watkinson the East-West line.
Tom Welch was also successful in winning "The Chase" Quiz with Julian Wernick also picking up a prize after a tie break.
(The quiz & answers can be found via the left hand menu).
The raffle draw for voucher scheme prizes was won by Lyn & Graham Foreman who took home the Christmas Hamper with Jill Lindop winning the Bottle of Champagne prize.
Your committee have considered in the light of experience of the fairness of 1 vs 2 winner movements and stratification for the former that have been in operation at the club over the past two years, that after many comments received from members that in future we will stratify 11, 12 table or 8 table hesistation Mitchell Movements and any Howell movements on Monday and Thursday evening sessions.
All other movements will be natual 2 winner i.e. N/S and E/W winners (i.e. no artificial arrowswitch) to get ranking lists for awarding of masterpoints and prize money. Where there are more than 12 tables we will independently stratify in the N/S and E/W directions.
We have two large well-lit playing areas, one of which is equipped for teaching, the rooms both enjoy views across playing fields.
We have a bar, kitchen and plenty of parking spaces.
Pre-dealt boards with available hand records are used for all main bridge sessions along with EBUScore, BridgeMates and BridgeWebs technology enabling a fast end of session results service.
