We have now contacted everyone who played and have established the following qualification list for the WCBA Championship Pairs Final on Sunday 24th April 2016 at West Midlands Bridge Club 12:00 noon start. From SCBC we can qualify the first six pairs over 50% who haven't previously qualified via WPL, BPL or CPL so on the responses received we have qualified five pairs for the final.

Many congratulations go to David Werry and Gita Kundu who won our third Swiss Pairs event in 2014 held on Mon. 13th Oct.

The final Swiss Pairs night in 2014 will to be on Monday 1st December and the previously published provisional date of 3rd November will revert to a normal matchpointed Monday evening session. 

If you liked the 2014 Swiss Pairs events please watch out for details concerning the Sutton Pairs League starting in February 2015 on 3 Friday evenings in February, March and April.

It is intended that further Swiss Pairs evenings will be organized, probably commencing in June 2015, but please let us know your thoughts if you want such events sooner.

Congratulations to Anja Townrow and Joe Fagan who were the highest placed members in the Revill Edwards Cup for Duplicate Pairs and so were awarded the trophy after the event held at the Club on Friday 12th September.

Congratulations to Ed Laughton and Paul Sands who won our Monday September 1st Swiss Pairs Event.

Overall Ranking on BridgeWebs now available and Masterpoints have been credited to your EBU account if you won any of the four matches played. 

The Main Committee have agreed that the success and feedback from the trial Swiss Pairs should be built upon and have santioned two futher events on the firat Monday in September and second Monday in October should be held with a review folowing these sessions.

It has been agreed that a Swiss Pairs League should commence  in  February 2015 targeting a Friday Night event.

Publicity and rules for the agreed forthcoming two session President's Cup event in the Autumn has also been discussed with the addition of an Ascenders Prize for best percentage gain in the second session.

They are pictured here receiving the cup from David Wing who is travelling to all 51 cities in England by bicycle to highlight the Alzheimer's Society and is organising a City Cup bridge competition in each city.

The committee have decided to match donations made on the night with money from book sale funds and have rounded the total amount raised up to £100 which will be sent to the Alzheimer's Society via the Just Giving website.

An exciting finish saw team Argust score 19 & 20 VPs in their last two matches to tie on 78 VPs with team Birch, the latter winning the trophy by virtue of their first round win over team Argust.

In his official capacity unlucky Nigel then had the task of presenting the trophy to the winners.

Mixed fortunes for SCBC Pairs at the WCBA Championship Pairs & Introductory Pairs Event hald at WMBC on Sunday 29th Jnnuary.

Three Pairs qualified for the main final with Steve Wood & Jeremy Fenwick eventually finishing 2nd overall after leading on carryover and Mike Leese and John Collin finishing 3rd having pre-qualified for the day at Arden BC only the week before.

Birthday boy Nick Woosnam and Anne Woosnam just scraped into the final but managed to slightly improve their position to 12th overall out of 14 after an indifferent session.

Meanwhile in the consolation final Audrey & Henry McBride beat 26 other pairs to WIN the Consolation Pairs Event.

John Hind & Caroline Coombs were disappointed to finish about half way but enjoyed the event but like everyone thought 50 boards was a lot if you were not regularly used to that number.

Meanwhile at the introductory pairs SCBC's best pair were Brian Nash & Mike Wann who finished 6th out of 26 pairs with Walter Nicholls and Pam Bister a creditable 9th. Fortune was not so kind on other SCBC pairs.

Hildegard Nash has kindly agreed to let the Nash Plate be awarded for the best individual performance by a player under the rank of Regional Master on a Tuesday Night.

The format will be similar to the Clark Cup competition on Thursday Night in that all results will count playing with any partner.

The winner(s) will be determined by the best average percentage with at least fifteen results counting.

The 2011 competition starts on Tue. 4th January.

Only 5 Tables turned out on a cold Friday 26th November night in aid of the Warwickshire & Northants Air Ambulance as part of the normal Duval Cup evening.

NTM standing by the Edgar Foster Honour boards which show that the cup was first played for in 1935 when the club was started in the basement of a house in Somerville Road.

Mike Morriss and Nick Woosnam have won the Victor Ludorum top prize at Graham Jepson's Beverley weekend in September.

As Graham is retiring shortly this picture of the market place in Beverley is theirs to keep and has been donated to SCBC in perpetuity.
