FYI, Bracketed Pairs are what the SCBA run at the County Pairs Cup and Plate event.  It works like this:  The event is split into two halves, the first half is just a normal duplicate involving all of the people who have entered.  The second half is split into two groups depending on the ranking of pairs in the first half.  I am not sure of the proportions to be used, but let's say it is 50-50, in which case in the second half there will be two competitions one for the top 50% from the first half and one competition for the rest.  There are cash prizes for the winners of each group
