ELECTRONIC SCORING NOTIFICATION

EFFECTIVE 1 DECEMBER 2018 THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS DECIDED THAT THE POLICY OF THIS CLUB REGARDING WIRELESS SCORING PROTOCOLS WILL BE ADJUSTED

IN LINE WITH MOST OTHER LOCAL CLUBS AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SUGGESTIONS OF PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS, TEACHERS, AND THE ACBL.

THE “TRAVELER SCORES” & “PERCENTAGES” WILL BE DISABLED.

Three anticipated benefits to this policy:

  1. The games will run more smoothly with less delays and will be quieter without the traveler’s (unintended) invitation to post mortems after every hand.
  2. The comments about the hands, frequently overheard thus allowing advantages to other players, will be curtailed.
  3. It will discourage players from changing their style of bidding and playing (“shooting”) when they suspect a poor overall outcome.

(Some players fear this will force them to play “in a vacuum.” Exactly. We should be playing in a vacuum; each hand should sink or swim on its own merits irrespective of recent mistakes, triumphs or conundrums.)

More information about wireless scoring protocols can be found on the ACBL website: www.acbl.org

N.B.: While the North player will always be responsible for entering the scores, it is the responsibility of the East or West player to ensure that the entered scores are correct.

If there is ever a question about whether or not a score was entered correctly, CALL THE DIRECTOR to have it re-entered. If an error is not found or notified to a director, both parties will be considered equally responsible.

We remind members of the club’s Zero Tolerance policy. Abusive remarks to the Club Manager, Directors or Board Members will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
