This competition is calculated by comparing the increase in a player's percentages on last summer's ladder with this summer's ladder. Alison is close behind with an improvement of 5.55% on last year. | Congratulations to Krys and Sandra on jointly winning the 2010 Summer Ladder! They have an average of over 63% for their 10 best performances. | Midsummer Pairs Competition |
| Sandra Nicholson and Krys Kazmierczak, winners of the Midsummer Pairs Competition for the Bygott Cup held on Monday 21st June. They had a splendid score of over 70%, nearly 7% ahead of the second pair, Betty Dick and John Cecil, who finished on a very respectable 63%! Despite winning various other competitions and cups within the Club, this is the first time Sandra & Krys have won this particular trophy. Many thanks to John Fleming of Oxford BC, who prepared the boards for this competition evening. |

| BGB Summer Sim Pairs |
BGB Sim Pairs The BGB Summer Sim Pairs event held on Monday 26 July was won by Jeremy Mitchell and Rod Cook who were over 5% ahead of the next pair. Well done!

| OBA Mixed Pairs |
Several Summertown members played in the Oxfordshire Mixed Pairs
Championship on 13th June. Notably former Chairman David Bygott came third
playing with a non SBC member - a strong player but an inexperienced

| Alison Withers Green and John Cecil on winning our Spring Handicap Competition on Monday 31st May 2010. As usual they will receive a bottle of wine each as prizes. |

Lorna, Alastair, Sandra and Krys who did brilliantly to come 3rd out of 72 teams competing in the Swiss Teams event of the Bournemouth Spring Bank Holiday Congress on 31 May 2010. They only lost one of their matches and played against some tough opposition.
Lorna and Alastair also did very well to qualify for the 'A' Final of the Championship Pairs, another tough event.

| Oxford Times Cup |
Chris Dawe, who together with a non-member, won the Oxford Times Cup on Sunday 16th May! This is a county event for people who have been playing for less than 5 years and have no more than 2,500 Master Points. Chris & partner finished on 63.64%, just a third of a percent ahead of two other SBC members, Jane Darke and Joanna Donkin - so well done to them too!

| Jeremy Bygott and David Bygott on another excellent result in finishing 5th out of 20 in the County Pairs final held on 25th April 2010 making them reserves to go forward for the Corwen (an event to which qualifying pairs from all the country's County Pairs finals are invited to participate). | Successes at Regional Finals Heat in Solihull |
SBC Members who had a very successful day at the Regional Finals heat in Solihull on 21st March 2010. They were Peter Russell, playing with a non-Member, who came 2nd, Alastair Gidman and Lorna Swadling who came 4th, and David and Jeremy Bygott who came 8th. All have qualified for the National Pairs Final to be held on 17/18th April 2010. |

| Summertown Team Qualify for Beck Cup Final |
| Krys Kazmierczak, Sandra Nicholson, Roger Van Noorden together with non-member, John Deech who on Sunday, 24th January 2010 came third in the Harwell Cup Teams event. This was an excellent performance against some strong teams and means that they qualify for the Beck Cup Final, which is the Oxfordshire inter-county invitation teams of four event. |

| Oxfordshire Swiss Pairs |
| Congratulations to Irina and Mark who came 5th out of 30 in the Oxfordshire Swiss Pairs event on Sunday 6th December, playing against some top-level opposition. Well done both of you - an excellent performance! |

| Oxfordshire Men's and Ladies' Pairs |
Rita Todd playing with member-in-waiting Moira Pavelin did very well to finish in second place in the Ladies County Championship.
In the Men's County Championship Krishan Jalie playing with non-member Grand Master Geoff Nicholas did extremely well in finishing almost ten clear percentage points ahead of second-placed David and Jeremy Bygott.
Well done to them all. The relatively small field in both events should not detract from their achievements but perhaps encourage more of our club members to take part in these prestigious county events.

| Sandra Nicholson & Krys Kazmierczak for winning the Alumni Cup, awarded to the winners of the main Pairs competition at the annual Congress of the Oxford University Alumni Bridge Association held this year on 12th September 2009. |

 Sandra Nicholson & Krys Kazmierczak, joint winners of this year's Summer Ladder with 63.89%, followed closely by Christopher Sheppard on 63.08% and John Cecil on 63.01%.
Albert Eastham did well to win the Ascender's Prize by improving his previous summer's average by 7.81%. Pam Matthews was second with 5.63% and Rosemary Dorey third with 5.29%. |

| Margot Johnson & Hilde McIlvenna on winning our quarterly handicap competition on Monday 31st August. Well done also to Ann Hewitt & Anna Rosenberg in second place and Loris & Tony Lewis in third. |

| Brighton EBU Congress |
Lorna Swadling & Alastair Gidman who did extremely well to finish 11th out of 43 in the Open Pairs on the first Sunday, third out of 46 in the Monday Open Pairs, 7th out of 37 in the Tuesday Open Pairs and 8th out of 72 in the GCH Fox Championship Pairs.
Special mention should perhaps be given to Sandra Nicholson whose team finished 38th out of 170 teams competing in the final of the Swiss Teams. An excellent achievement, given that Sandra was one of the reserves and had not met her partner before the start of the event. |
