Very well done to Mary-Ann Sheehy, who played in the Derbyshire County Bridge Congress on 28th & 29th September.  She and her partner (not an SBC member) came top of 50 pairs on Saturday and top of 20 teams on Sunday - in very stiff competition.

Summer Sims and charity event

A splendid effort on 22 July by all you generous people: we raised £900 in aid of Flexicare (more information at http://flexicare.org/.)

Huge thanks to all those involved: Christina (in particular for selling her delicious honey), Moira, Valerie, James and Cliff.

Many thanks also to Maison Francaise who waived the rent for the evening, meaning that we could add the table money to the proceeds from the raffle and the sale of honey.

Congratulations go to Peter Stevenson & Steve Nyman, who came top in the Club with 60.86%.  Diane & Linda were second with 59.09, and Cliff & Moira third with 57.41.  Here is a link to the national results (where the positions are rather different) and here is a link to the commentary.

Congress Winners

Many congratulations to Sandra & Krys who, with another pair, won the Green Pointed Swiss Teams on 21st July at the Gloucestershire & Herefordshire Congress!  34 teams took part.

The previous day they came 9th out of 66 in the Swiss Pairs - also a very respectable result.

Many thanks to all involved in the organisation: primarily Sandra who masterminded the whole event, but also Lawrence for directing, Liza scoring, Claire catering, Judy for collecting the money and Krys for selling raffle tickets.  Thank you also to Eileen & Anna who acted as our standby pair but in the end were not needed.

A grand total of £640 was raised for our two charities, Pancreatic Cancer UK and Safeline.

This year Oxfordshire's B team won their Division. The team then went on to play in the National Finals of the Inter-County Leagues on 16th June against all the other counties that had won in their various regional leagues. Oxfordshire emerged victorious for the second year running.  Very well done to Mary-Ann Sheehy and Matthew Covill who were part of this winning team.
