General Information

Our boards are usually pre-dealt and should not be shuffled and dealt at the table. Hand records are available at the end of the session. Play usually finishes around 10.30 -10.40pm.

EBU master points are awarded to pairs finishing in the top third. These are usually direct credited to the EBU a week or two after the end of each month, except for Simultaneous Pairs events, some events which have to be scored by hand or are otherwise awkward, and for those people for whom we have no EBU number, in which case the certificates are either hand-written or printed out and can be collected from the Club's Little Red Master Point Box.

We have a host system, so you can arrive without a pre-arranged partner. To ensure that there is a host each week, members are asked to act as host in rotation, about once every 18 months. Members should make a note of the day they are due to host. To see the list of hosts click on the Calendar button in the menu on the left. The organiser is Erica Sheppard (01865-793336).

We have three teams in the Wessex League (two in Division III, and one in Division IV), and we take part in various Simultaneous Pairs and other events.
Wessex League "A" Team matches are organised by Sandra Nicholson (01865-842204; email sandraATkrys.net).
Wessex League "B" Team matches are arranged by Holly Kilpatrick (01865-512358; email hollykilpatrickATtalktalk.net).
Wessex League "C" Team matches are arranged by Jean Alexander (01865-513154; email jeanATjralexander.me.uk) and Maggie Wheeller (01844-278723; email maggie.wheellerATbtinternet.com).

Simultaneous Pairs events are organised by Sara Alden (01865-735339; email saraATbroomhill-oxford.co.uk).

Club results are usually uploaded late the same evening. Visit the Results page in the menu on the left and click on the appropriate date. We are very grateful to those members of the Club who freely give of their time to score and direct each week.

We run a handicap event whenever there is a fifth Monday in the month. It is scored normally for Ladder and Masterpoint purposes but also scored on a handicap basis with base line provided by the 2008-9 Winter Ladder. There is a bottle of wine for each of the winning pair.

We have an Internet mailing list for club members with email to receive news about results, forthcoming events, etc. Contact Sandra or Krys for details.

For bridge classes see Oxford Bridge Learning.

The club record of 81.75% was set by David and Jeremy Bygott on Thursday 11th October 2007 beating the previous record of Mark Hannon and Sean Terry from 17 November 2003 by half a percent.

Summertown Bridge Club Library is currently being looked after by Mark Hannon. If anyone would like to borrow a book, please speak to Mark or one of the Committee Members.
