European Internet Sims
Well done to visitors Anthea and Pauline on a splendid win in the European Internet Sims on 22nd November.  Also well done to Lorna, Alastair, Rita and John Simpson who finished on over 65%.

This Sims is an internet only one, so booklets are not provided by the organisers. The commentary is available
here and the link to the European results for our Club is here.
Alastair Gidman, who had an amazing result at the EBU Autumn Congress in early November 2010: he qualified from a large field with Norwegian international Espen Erichsen to play in the the top pairs event, the Two Stars Final, where he was playing against top people: David Bakshi, two of the Hackett family, Brian Senior, etc.  They came 4th out of 14, an excellent result.
Mens and Ladies Pairs/Malvern Congress
Mens and Ladies Pairs/Malvern Congress

Several Club members played in the Oxfordshire Ladies and Men’s Pairs on Sunday 31st October 2010, and Peter Russell, playing with a non-member, won the Men’s Pairs with a score of nearly 69%, some 9% ahead of the next pair. Well done, Peter! Congratulations also to David and Jeremy Bygott who came 4th. Viccy Fleming and Sabina Pugh did very well in the Ladies’ event, coming 3rd and winning the Non-Expert prize, while Joanna Donkin came 4th and Gillian Willison & Geraldine Krall were 5th.

Meanwhile other Club members were playing in the Malvern Congress the same weekend:  Sandra & Krys came 11th equal out of 132 pairs in the Pairs event on Saturday. Well done!

Binyon Cup - 4th October
Congratulations go to Alison & Robert on winning the Binyon Cup this year with a magnificent score of 71.5%. Well done! Sara & Neil also had a good evening, coming second. In fact five pairs scored over 63%.
EBU Autumn Sim Pairs - 13 September 2010
Margot and Rosemary on winning this evening within the club and to Lorna and Alastair on achieving the highest score of anyone in the club when scored nationally.
The club results can be found by clicking on Latest Results (top right).

National Results are here.       Commentary booklet is here.
Summer Ladder winners
Congratulations to Krys and Sandra on jointly winning the 2010 Summer Ladder!  They have an average of over 63% for their 10 best performances.  John Cecil has also done very well, finishing third on 61.66% and Peggy Manuell is fourth on 60.38%.  Full details are on the Club's website under Competitions.
Midsummer Pairs Competition
Sandra Nicholson and Krys Kazmierczak, winners of the Midsummer Pairs Competition for the Bygott Cup held on Monday 21st June.  They had a splendid score of over 70%, nearly 7% ahead of the second pair, Betty Dick and John Cecil, who finished on a very respectable 63%!  Despite winning various other competitions and cups within the Club, this is the first time Sandra & Krys have won this particular trophy.  Many thanks to John Fleming of Oxford BC, who prepared the boards for this competition evening.
BGB Summer Sim Pairs
The BGB Summer Sim Pairs event held on Monday 26 July was won by Jeremy Mitchell and Rod Cook who were over 5% ahead of the next pair.  Well done!

OBA Mixed Pairs
Several Summertown members played in the Oxfordshire Mixed Pairs
Championship on 13th June.  Notably former Chairman David Bygott came third
playing with a non SBC member - a strong player but an inexperienced
partnership.  Well done David!  For the full results see:-

Alison Withers Green and John Cecil on winning our Spring Handicap Competition on Monday 31st May 2010. As usual they will receive a bottle of wine each as prizes.
Lorna, Alastair, Sandra and Krys who did brilliantly to come 3rd out of 72 teams competing in the Swiss Teams event of the Bournemouth Spring Bank Holiday Congress on 31 May 2010.  They only lost one of their matches and played against some tough opposition.

Lorna and Alastair also did very well to qualify for the 'A' Final of the Championship Pairs, another tough event.
Oxford Times Cup
Chris Dawe, who together with a non-member, won the Oxford Times Cup on Sunday 16th May!  This is a county event for people who have been playing for less than 5 years and have no more than 2,500 Master Points.  Chris & partner finished on 63.64%, just a third of a percent ahead of two other SBC members, Jane Darke and Joanna Donkin - so well done to them too!

2009 Master Point listings
The complete master point ranking lists for 2009 are now available on the EBU website
(see http://www.ebu.co.uk/masterpoints/data/2009/5/oxford.pdf)
If you take a moment to look down the list you will see that many of our members have done well.  Alastair and Lorna have both come very high up the listings for Green and Black points in 2009 and deserve a special mention.
If you're looking for your own name, don't forget that you will be listed under the rank which you had attained at the beginning of 2009.

Well done to everybody who has done well, but particular congratulations go to Sandra & K
rys: they are the highest Summertown players in the current Gold Point rankings for the County, and in the top 500 nationally!
