| Oxfordshire Men's Pairs |
| Summertown members who had a successful day at the Oxfordshire Men's Pairs Championship on Sunday 30th October 2011 with Peter Russell retaining his title (with non-member Ron Quainton). Alastair Gidman and Krys Kazmierczak were third, while David & Jeremy Bygott were fourth and Krishan Jalie was fifth playing with a non-member.

| County Pairs Heat - 17th October 2011 |
| David & Jeremy Bygott on an excellent win with 70.08% in our heat of the Oxfordshire County Pairs Championship. The remaining qualifiers for the semifinals will be notified in due course. | Sandra & Krys on a clear win in our Club mixed pairs competition on 3rd October, nearly 4% ahead of the rest of the field. Particularly well done as Krys was directing on a night when there were frequent calls for the director.

Krys on (once again!) winning the Summer Ladder with his ten best scores averaging 62.79% - well done. Sandra was very close behind in second position, Christopher third, and Holly fourth. | OBA Sim Pairs - 2nd May |
The OBA Simultaneous Pairs took place at Summertown BC on Monday 2nd May. Seven clubs with a total of 120 pairs took part this year. Congratulations to Joanna Donkin and Trevor Dawn, who did wonderfully well to come second in the County with an excellent score of 65.12%. | Midsummer Pairs Competition |
Lorna Swadling and Alastair Gidman on winning our annual Midsummer Pairs Competition for the Bygott Trophy on Monday 20th June with a fine 63.07%. They took home with them a bottle of wine each. The trophy will be presented at next year's AGM.

| County Pairs Semifinal Successes |
The Oxfordshire County Pairs Semifinals (2011) took place recently and Summertown members had some considerable success in this event. Congratulations to Christopher and Erica Sheppard who came second in their semi with Rita Todd and John Deech close behind in third. In the other semifinal David and Jeremy Bygott came 5th, Humaira Erfan-Ahmed (playing with a non-member) came sixth and Steph & Steven Bliss came 9th.

| Fine results by Alastair Gidman in Easter Festival |
| Alastair Gidman who played with England international Espen Erichsen in the big Easter Festival in London on 23-24 April 2011 and did really well against some tough opposition to finish 5th out of 109 in the Championship Pairs and 3rd out of 76 in the Swiss Teams (with team-mates Helen Erichsen & Ehend Skjetno). Wonderful results!

| Ranked Masters |
|
Lorna and Alastair who played in the Life Masters section of the EBU Ranked Masters Championship on the weekend of 5-6 March 2011. This is a tough event playing nearly 90 boards over two days against other Life Masters, and Lorna isn't even a Life Master (yet!). She had to play ‘up two ranks’ in order to play with Alastair in this section. They came 2nd out of 36 pairs, a splendid result. Well done!

| 2010-11 Winter Ascenders’ Ladder |
Many congratulations to Richard Whittington,the winner of the Winter Ascenders’ Ladder, who increased the averageof his ten best eligible scores (as compared with the previouswinter) by 7.16%. Ruth Jones finished in second place by a whisker and Vita Granelli was in third place. Well done everybody!

| Well done, John May and Jane Pezaro, on winning in the Club. Nationally the results are somewhat different, partly because some of us played two boards (33 & 34) which were not sim pairs boards.
