Release 2.17b

EBU Membership Fee
This will be due soon and the Club decided at its AGM in September to dis-affiliate from the EBU for the coming year.  This means if you take no action, you will be ineligible for any new EBU competitions.
Paper Master Points will cease to be issued after April 1st; if you have any you wish to be registered, send them to Aylesbury ASAP.
If you are not a member of the EBU and do not intend to be one, you need do nothing.
If you wish to become or continue membership you can either join one of the local affiliated clubs or register individually with the EBU and complete the Direct Debit mandate on page 27 of the February issue of English Bridge magazine.
In either case, your membership of Stone Bridge Club is unaffected
.

Bridge lessons have been given at the club for several years now and learners have progressed enough to play at the club on both Monday and Wednesday nights with some doing well enough to occasionally come top. Most seemed to have enjoyed the experience and are continuing to play at the level that suits them. Many friendships have been formed which is one of the wonderful spin offs of the game.

All the lessons are taught in a friendly, relaxed environment with the emphasis on having fun as well as learning to play bridge. Verbal explanation is backed up by demonstrations on a whiteboard. More prepared hands are played and analysed and whenever new topics are covered printed handouts are available to take home.

In order to facilitate an easy move from the learning environment to a proper duplicate evening, we  hold an additional friendly duplicate event every Friday afternoon. Everyone will be partnered so you can come alone. Although this is for playing any 'experts' on hand will be only too pleased to offer help and advice. Cost is only £2.50.

All lessons are charged at £5 and include a drink and biscuits. Evening classes commence promptly at 7.20pm and continue to around 10.00pm. Anyone wishing to come along please contact Nick Thorne (by clicking on his name to send an e-mail, or 'phone 01782 372324).

A new beginners class will start on Thursday 10th September.
