RICHARD Evans is one of Suffolk's top teachers who believes that learning bridge should be enjoyable and fun.
His approach to teaching the world's best card game has paid handsome dividends with his pupils having won the Suffolk Novice Pairs Championship several times.
In October 2016, a pair of his students won the first county wide Really Easy event, aimed at less experienced players.
He offers a wide range of courses in Stansfield, including for total beginners. Each course is tailored to suit individual needs - so you can enrol for a course spread over eight weeks, attend an intensive 'crash course' or arrange your own teach-in for you and your bridge playing friends - at your home if you wish.
The core courses are Beginners, Card Play, Intermediate and Advanced - but others are available aimed at players of all levels.

The courses and topics covered include:

Beginners: Learn the basics of bidding, Opening, Repsonding, Balanced and Unbalanced hands, Slams
Card Play: How to play No-trump and Trump contracts, Opening leads, Finessing etc
Intermediate: More detailed look at bidding, including Overcallng, Pre-empting, - great 'refresher' course for those returning to bridge after an absence
Intermediate Extra: Repsonding and Overcalliing 1NT, 6+ card suits , Invitational and Forcing bids, 4441 hands etc
Advanced: Takes bidding to a new level - Losing trick count, Unassuming cue bids, doubling, stayman etc
Advanced Card Play: Getting rid of losers, establishing long suits, Ruffing Finesse, Cross-Ruffs, Deep Finesses, Coping with 'bad splits' etc
Advanced Defence: Leads, Signals, Discards etc
Conventions: Transfers, RKCB, Weak Twos, Negative Xs, Splinters, Jacoby, Michaels, UNT - to name a few...

The Autumn term starts in early October 2016.
