We now have a phone for members to use if they are going to be late arriving for an evening's bridge. It will be available from about 7.00 - 7.30pm on the night only.
The number is 07772758624
Just a reminder to all that we are open as usual on Monday 22nd April to start at 7.30 pm and we do have the Duty Officer available if you don't have a partner.
Members are reminded that the AGM will take place before the bridge on April 29th. To speed the meeting the majority of reports will be shown on the web site in the 'AGM April 2019' section. They will not be repeated at the meeting although obviously any questions may be raised.
The end of March is the end of the competition year at St. Albans and it's been a great year. Top honours go to our Pairs winners, Stan & Tara Harding for the second year running and the Teams where Bob Turnham and Harry Silverman successfully formed a new squad with Sara Barnett and Jill Mumford to win, for Bob and Harry this is now an incredible ten years on the run. Bob Turnham also won the Individual Ladder with Steve Lambert completing the list winning the Roy Seaman. Both Bob and Steve also retained the awards from the previous year.
The highest socre of the year came from Gill & Steve Lambert with 71.66%, yet again a repeat of 2017/18 and Annette Sleaford and Gina Woodhead achieved the single best performance of the year against NGS expectation with + 19.73. A special mention should also go to Hilary & Paul Nesbitt who achieved three 70% plus scores in the year.
Our individual Trophy events were won by Tess Alexander and Tony Shields (IMP Pairs), Jane Scaysbrook and John Mathews (Anniversary Pairs) and Hilary and Paul Nesbitt (Gerald Everitt Memorial & Swiss Pairs).
Overall and excellent competitive year for the club with record numbers of players and we look forward to an even better 2019/20.
The St. Albans Team of Stan & Tara Harding, John Mathews & Susan Dow, James Rogers & Denis King and Harry Silverman & Sara Barnett have won the County Teams of Eight Competion: The Desmond Flockhart Trophy. It means they now get to represent Hertfordshire in the Garden Cities Trophy. Congratulations to all on what is a fantastic victory.
It is difficult for directors and scorers to set the movement and to arrange the room if members turn up on the dot of 7.30. So can I ask you all to be there and seated by 7.20 (at least one player per pair) please? It might be that in the long run we will have to have a cut off time of 7.25/7.20 for participation in an evening's session.
I would also like to remind you that we do not have mobile phones on and in use in the hall during the evening, so please turn them off / on silent during the evening.
Thank you for your cooperation in this.
Welcome to the website of The St Albans Duplicate Bridge Club where we play competitive bridge to a good standard in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

We look forward to meeting you and you don't need to contact us first - just turn up, (Before 7.20 pm please!)
The club meets at The Jersey Farm Community Centre, Sandringham Crescent, St Albans, Herts, AL4 9RG. (please see map and travelling directions under the information button on the left of this page).
