We now have a phone for members to use if they are going to be late arriving for an evening's bridge. It will be available from about 7.00 - 7.30pm on the night only.
The number is 07772758624
The Club will be hosting our 2nd Annual Swiss Pairs Trophy on Monday September 24th at 1930. There will be a limit of 24 Tables for the night and given the recent significant increase in membership and attendance this is likely to mean visitor spaces will be quite limited. Would any non-members wanting to play please contact Steve Lambert (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible. Table money will be £3.50 for members and £5.00 for non-members. Current enteries are shown here.
Monday's Teams was run as two separate events. To see both results use the Result button on the left of the screen. The top five teams in the Humble Qualifier Section qualify for the next round in January.
In light of the increase in the number of Teams the Committee have decided to run a three month trial. For October-December the Multiple Teams format will be replaced by Swiss Teams with an external, non-playing Director. Swiss Teams is the primary format used at major congresses for large numbers of teams and we hope all members will enjoy a competition rarely available in midweek club sessions. Results will count towards the annual club Teams Ladder and other competitions. To cover the significantly higher expenses, members' fees, for Swiss Teams nights only, will be £3.50 per person and non-members £5. We will review member feedback on the new format early in the New Year ahead of the AGM.
It is difficult for directors and scorers to set the movement and to arrange the room if members turn up on the dot of 7.30. So can I ask you all to be there and seated by 7.20 (at least one player per pair) please? It might be that in the long run we will have to have a cut off time of 7.25/7.20 for participation in an evening's session.
I would also like to remind you that we do not have mobile phones on and in use in the hall during the evening, so please turn them off / on silent during the evening.
Thank you for your cooperation in this.
Welcome to the website of The St Albans Duplicate Bridge Club where we play competitive bridge to a good standard in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
You can come along either as a pair or without a partner as we operate a highly successful duty officer scheme. This scheme runs every week except for the regular teams competition which is held on the second Monday of every month - but please do bring your own team for these events if you wish!
There is ample parking and free tea, coffee and biscuits!
We look forward to meeting you and you don't need to contact us first - just turn up! (Before 7.20 pm please!)
The club meets at The Jersey Farm Community Centre, Sandringham Crescent, St Albans, Herts, AL4 9RG. (please see map and travelling directions under the information button on the left of this page).
We are open every Monday including public holidays (except 24, 25 & 26 December).
Doors open at 7.15pm for a prompt please be seated by 7.20pm.
