Andrew Robson Workshop

This event is SOLD OUT with a waiting list.  Could all those who have signed up please pay Sue in the Office to confirm your place.  Thank You.

Thursday 20 November  0945 - 1300 hrs
Andrew is returning to give us a bridge Masterclass entitled Elimination & Thrown-In.  This will include the classic two-way finesse by forcing an opponent to lead a suit, End Plays, Jacoby convention and Tricky Leads (what to lead when nothing seems obvious).   Andrew's masterclass is a workshop so you will be playing and discussing lots of hands.  Andrew has a wonderful delivery and his workshops are fun and aimed at average club players.
Price:  £15.00pp  Advance booking required to Sue in the Office.
Andrew will be bringing lots of his books to sell (and sign) which make excellent Christmas presents!

Wednesday Evening Procedures

Some new procedures and announcing rules are being introduced on Wednesday evenings.
The most important rules are to be polite and friendly to partner and opponents and to be especially welcoming to any newcomers or inexperienced players.
Changes to be introduced are:

  • 12-14 1NT openers should not be announced, but any other agreed  range of 1NT must be announced by partner
  • Any bid, at any level which by agreement is not natural must be announced
  • In announcing partner’s bid give a brief description of its meaning, not just the name of a convention

Hesitations and Director calls

  • Try to bid at an even tempo, but if you need to think there is nothing wrong with a hesitation. Partner must not take advantage of the knowledge that you had a problem
  • Do not “reserve your rights” or call the Director if you think that a call might have been influenced by a hesitation or mis-description of a bid.  Enter the result as obtained.
  • The Director should only be called for technical errors, such as mis-entries in the Bridgemate or revokes.
