The West of England Congress 2016 |
WEST OF ENGLAND CONGRESS 2016
As many of you know, our annual Congress has been staged at the Winter Gardens, Weston-super-Mare for the past 25 years. This building has now been temporarily closed pending certain alterations and we have been obliged to seek another venue for the 2016 Congress.
We have been most fortunate to find an excellent alternative and as you will see from the entry form our 2016 Congress will be held at the Conference Centre of Weston College.
This building is situated very close to the sea-front and is less than 200 yards from the Winter Gardens.
Congress participants will therefore face very little change vis-a-vis hotels, restaurants and shops.
We have received wonderful support for many years and have not infrequently been over-subscribed.
Ann Bawdon and I are confident that you will thoroughly approve of the new venue and very much look forward to seeing you later in the year.
Please note the reduction in table numbers this year, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to give either of us a ring.
Yours sincerely
DAVID PORTER
Congress Chairman

Hotels & Parking |
|
There are plenty of hotels and B&B’s, many of which can be found on the Somerset Tourist Board website: www.visitsomerset.co.uk or telephone them on 01934 888800 for a brochure.
If within walking distance, check whether the hotel or B&B has parking – you may have to book parking spaces in advance.
Whilst SCBA make no recommendations, the following two hotels have proved popular with bridge players in the past:-
The Royal Hotel Tel: 01934 423100 (next door to venue)
Beachlands: Tel. 01934 621401 (Longer walk, but has swimming pool).
Parking
Limited parking (for disabled only – and which must be pre-booked) will be available at the venue on Friday. There will be approximately 50 extra spaces available on Saturday and Sunday.
Alternatively, the multi-storey car park next door to the Winter Gardens in St Margaret’s Terrace costs £5 for up to 12 hours. Non-residents can park in the Royal Hotel car park at a cost of £6 for up to 12 hours (prices correct at time of printing). These are closest to the venue. There are others within a short distance.
There should be no problem with on-street parking on Sunday.
