LEARN  BRIDGE AT THE BRIDGE SCHOOL

The Bridge School is a private school, teaching bridge at Gerrards Cross Memorial Centre in South Bucks. The teachers are Tessa Templeton, Rob Wilkinson both trained and accredited by the English Bridge Union and the very experienced Anders Wallen. We are all enthusiastic and committed to teaching bridge in a fun environment and running classes in a friendly and relaxed way. The range of courses attracts complete beginners right through to classes and workshops for the more advanced player. The reputation of the School is such that students come from Beaconsfield, Chalfont St Peter, Amersham  and right across Buckinghamshire, as well as many from as far afield as Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Middlesex. • We meet at 1:15pm (for a 1:30 start) - 4:30 pm every Monday

Ever wondered how some people bid makeable slams on minimal values and yet stay out of the un-makeable ones? Splinter bids and the Jacoby 2NT convention show support for partner’s major suit and describe hand shape in one bid! Partner can now assess slam prospects without going beyond the game line.

When you realise that Blackwood does not give you the information you truly need to bid a slam with confidence, then its time to switch to Roman Key Card Blackwood ,where the king of trumps counts as the ‘Fifth Ace’ and you even get the opportunity to ensure the partnership also holds the queen of trumps! We also introduce you to cue bidding as an additional tool.to help you find out partner’s ‘specific’ Ace or void.
