WELCOME TO THE SAVANNAH DUPLICATE BRIDGE CLUB WEBSITE

Welcome.  ACBL-sanctioned duplicate bridge games are played at several locations in the Savannah area.  The most extensive schedule is played at the Savannah Bridge Center and other games are held at the Plantation Club at The Landings on Skidaway Island, the Grand Lakes Lodge in the Southbridge Community and the Jewish Educational Alliance. For details, click on Savannah Game Schedule on the left.

A New Game Format - It's About Breaking Through Barriers!

Several people have commented that they really don't know the folks who have been sitting on the other side of the room from them.  We decided to test a "mixer" on Saturday, October 21, and subsequently on the third Saturday of each month.  It is a Swiss Team event called "8 is Enough."

The concept is straightforward. Every team consists of four players of varying skill and experience levels.  That is accomplished by assigning a player a value determined by the player’s master point total.  Each player categorized as an “A” player carries a value of 3 points.  Each “B” player counts as 2 points, and each “C” player counts as 1 point.  A team may not have any combination of players whose total value exceeds 8 points. (Hence the name “Eight is Enough”).  For example, a team that has two “A” players must also have two “C” players (3+3+1+1=8).  A team may have a combination of players whose value totals less than 8 if it wishes. However, every team must have at least one “C” player. Each team will then compete in a traditional Swiss team game.

For our game in October, each player with over 1000 master points is an “A” player.  Each player whose master point total falls between 200 and 1000 is a “B” player.  Each player whose master point total is less than 200 points is a “C” player.  The master point totals as of September 6, 2018 will determine a player’s category for the October game. If a player has a question about his/her master point total, the Club Manager or any game director can look it up.

Start putting your team together and enjoy this great new approach to team bridge!
