Bridge in a fun environment
Bridge in a fun environment

The Rye Beach Bridge Club is now into its 10th year of operation.

Founded in November 2005 by Margaret and Brian Morgan, with the aim of increasing  participation in bridge as well as improving the standard on the Southern Peninsula, the club continues to grow.

Brian and Margaret insist that the overriding principle is that bridge must be fun, and that players respect both their opponents AND their partner.

Duplicate sessions are held at the Rye Beach Community Centre on Monday evenings and Thursday afternoons. Another duplicate session is held at Watsons Pavilion, Portsea on Monday mornings.

Supervised bridge is played on Thursday mornings - 10.15 at the Rye Beach Community Centre

Importantly, with the occasional exception for major club competitions, NO PARTNER IS REQUIRED at either centre- we always have a 'floater' available.

MPBA Regional Pairs Competition

20 pairs competed in the inaugural MPBA regional pairs event at Mornington on Saturday. Results were in doubt up to the last hand and all players are to be congratulated on their efforts and good humour. Final placings -

Winners.            Bev Pollard and Eileen Farren

2nd.                    Christine and David Pine

3rd.                     Alison Inchley and Lindsay Young

Restricted winners.      Nancy Johnson and Rosemary Chard

Runners-up.                  Florence Vawdrey and Rose-Ann Stewart

My apologies for announcing the wrong restricted runners-up - shouldn't try and read without my glasses!,

Thanks for your support.

PENINSULA HOME HOSPICE

We are pleased to advise that we are linking up with Peninsula Home Hospice to provide a major charity and bridge event in August.

PHH is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation that provides home-based palliative care for the terminally ill - many of us will have experience of the fantastic help they provide.

More information shortly, but be ready to empty your wallets.

SUCCESS AT GRAND PRIX CONGRESS

Fantastic results at the Grand Prix Congress at Waverley.

Wes Pawlowski and Bill Rossiter-Nuttall won the restricted section, more money for Lyn Moodie and Honor Middleton in their section,
while Sarah Livingston and Jac Rossiter Nuttall also finished above their ranking in a strong field.

Well done everybody!
