Last week, on Monday Morning our new beginners' group went on to their second lesson. Still space if you'd like to join. Still free.

On Monday Afternoon seven and a half tables played a Web-Mitchell movement. Chris Longthorn and Pat Anning lead North / South with 58.33; The East / West was led by Bob Reeve and Jean Child with 63.19.

On Monday Evening five and a half tables played a Double-Hesitation Mitchell movement led by Peter and Vera Iredale with 66.07. Due to the sad loss of Malcolm Melrose, he & Max Kynoch won't be able to complete their participation in the Founders Championship Pairs. Peter & Vera Iredale lead the rest of the field.

The first practice session of the week, on Tuesday morning, looked at playing No Trumps contracts in some depth, and some tricky hands.

On Tuesday Afternoon eight and a half tables played a two-winner Mitchell. Nicky Bainbridge and Carole Broadhurst led North/South with 56.46. East/West led by Ann Burrage and Ken Miles with 57.14.

Our Tuesday evening replay, the second practice session of the week, replayed some hands from Monday Afternoon with detailed discussion of the bidding, card play, and the results from the previous day.

On Wednesday Morning's Friendly Practice session a chatty but thoughtful four and a half tables learned about limit raise replies in the third practice session of the week.

Thursday morning saw the fourth practice session looking at the negative double, a really useful bid.

On Thursday evening Six and a half tables played a single-winner hesitation Mitchell movement led by Brian Mawby and David Reed scoring 63.33.

Win at Stratford Shakespeare Swiss Teams

RVBC is lucky enough to be invited to put two teams of four into this delightful event. While the event is always played in a really friendly and pleasant atmosphere, the field is always strong with some of the best players in the region turning out. So Malcolm and Max with Nicky and Jim are thrilled to have won it this year. Ed and Ishar White with Peter and Vera Iredale also played but clearly concentrated on enjoying the excellent lunch, wine, gorgeous day and excellent company!
