Tournament Directors
Tournament Directors

Dear all

As you know we try to play friendly, social bridge within the League.  Occasionally, players make mistakes and it is in the interests of all parties to ensure that any such incidents are resolved correctly. We therefore provide a list of Tournament Directors under the Information section on the website whom you can call in the event that you need a decision as to the correct course of action to take.

They will need information about the salient facts and may require to see the board if they are not able to give a formal ruling without seeing it and making a later adjustment.  If this is the case the results card should be withheld until the Director has made his/her ruling and advised the Fixtures Secretary.

This decision will be in accordance with the rules established by the EBU.

  1. Sid Downton, as Acting Chairman, opened the meeting.

He explained that four elected members of the Rugby and District Bridge League, which included three of the elected Officers, had resigned from the Committee, meaning that there were insufficient elected Officers for the Committee to be quorate.  Therefore the remaining League Committee members were not able to take any action on League matters.  This meeting had had to be called at short notice in order for League business to proceed.

This EGM had been called for one purpose only, and that was to elect a new Committee.

  1. There had been one nomination for the post of League Chairman.

Debbie Welch was proposed by Wendy Crees and seconded by Sid Downton and was duly elected.

  1. There had been one nomination for the post of League Secretary.

Liz Edwards was proposed by Kath Lightfoot and seconded by Maria Smyth and was duly elected.

  1. There had been one nomination for the post of League Treasurer.

Sid Downton was proposed by Christine Cooper and seconded by Peter Iredale and was duly elected.

  1. There had been one nomination for the post of League Fixtures Secretary.  Jane Carrington was proposed by Kath Lightfoot and seconded by Wendy Crees and was duly elected.

  1. There had been four nominations for the three vacant positions as Committee Members.  Wendy Pattinson withdrew her nomination so that a vote did not have to take place.

The following three Members were duly elected:

Terry Bradbury – proposed by Judith Kleiner, seconded by Hugh McLean.

David Owen – proposed by Peter Langley, seconded by Sue Osborne.

Roger Ward – proposed by Patti Jarvis, seconded by Sue Osborne.

There was no further business and the meeting closed at 19.20.
