TRAVEL EXPENSES

Rugby Bridge Club does not normally pay travel expenses to its members.  Members are expected to pay for their own travel to bridge sessions and other events.  Even where members serve the Club in another capacity, such as being a member of a committee or organising a special event or events, they are generally expected to meet their own travel expenses.

The Management Committee will however be prepared to consider a claim for travel expenses from a member in very exceptional circumstances.  Such circumstances might for example include making a 'one-off' journey solely for the direct benefit of the club over a distance greater than normal travel from home to club activities.  Where such a journey is to be made, the member should raise the issue of whether expenses will be paid with the Chairman or Treasurer in advance of the journey.

If, in very exceptional circumstances, it is agreed to pay travel expenses, this will be at the rate of 25p per mile for car travel or the face value of travel by public transport, whichever is the cheaper.
