EBU Master Points

Master points
This club awards EBU Master points (known as Local points) in all its events. The number of Master Points you have earned at Royston this year can be seen under Competitions / Master Points. The MP ranking of all club members is displayed in our Member Area. To see how many points are needed to obtain a particular rank, click here: http://www.ebu.co.uk/masterpoints/ranks

Green Points
To reach the higher EBU Master Point ranks players need to earn a certain number of Green points as well as a certain number of Local points. Green points are generally awarded in county and national competitions (including, historically, some EBU SIMS events).
1 Green point = 100 Local points.

Blue points
In January 2013 the EBU introduced a new category of Master points called Blue points to overcome the difficulty some players have in attending national championships. In the same way as 1 Green point is worth 100 Local points, 1 Blue point will also be worth 100 Local points. All EBU Master Point ranks will allow up to 50 Green points to be replaced by Blue Points in the ratio of 1 Green = 3 Blues.

From January 2013, Blue points (rather than Green) will be awarded to the top third of the field in EBU simultaneous pairs events. Currently the only simultaneous pairs events this club participates in happen to be charity events organised by ECATS, which are not strictly speaking EBU events, although additional EBU Master points are also issue by ECATS for these events. Blue points are not issued at ECATS events.
