Paul Moorman |
|
We are sorry to tell you that Paul died peacefully on Tuesday 26th November the day before his 81st birthday, following a long illness. Our thoughts are with his daughter, Katie and her family at this difficult time. Katie, has sent us the following words in his memory:
"As many of you know, Dad and I took up Bridge classes in 2012 (following the death of my mum) in order to keep him busy and to allow me to spend time with him, learning a new hobby together. We enjoyed (most of the time!) playing in various local clubs and as his physical health deteriorated, Bridge became a lifeline for him. I truly believe that Bridge kept him going for as long as he did. They were happy times."
Paul's funeral: Monday 16th Dec 11a.m, St Joseph's Catholic Church, Elm Grove, Brighton.
The funeral is followed by 'get together' at The Hanover Pub, Queen's Park Road, Brighton.
Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Chestnut Tree House, c/o Wagstaff Funeral Directors, 29 College Place, Brighton. BN2 1HN.

Christmas Party 2018 |
|
We held our annual Christmas Bridge Party on Friday 7th December - a near capacity 10 and a half tables. A free day so no table money collected.
The club gave out keyring torches as Chrismas presents for the players.
We had a super tea in the interval. As usual Belinda excelled herself with her wonderful sandwich making. Wine was also available for those who fancied something a little stronger than the usual tea or coffee.
Victory on the day went to Dave Baker and Eric Shur with an excellent 68.18%.
Happy Christmas everybody from all at Rottingdean Bridge Club.

Christmas Party 2017 |
|
We held our annual Christmas Bridge Party yesterday (Friday 15th Dec) - 9 full tables in play. A free day so no table money collected.
Everyone was given a lovely keyring torch engraved with the club name and website address as a Christmas present from the club.
Katie M won the £5 prize for being the first person to win a trick with the two of clubs.
We had a super tea in the interval. As usual Belinda excelled herself with her wonderful sandwich making. The wine flowed (slightly) and chocolate treats were in plentiful supply.
Victory on the day went to John H and David S with a very creditable 68.75%. Also of note - Angelika H and Martin H made two small slams.
A good time was had by all.

Rottingdean Bridge Club Receives Lottery Award |
Rottingdean Bridge Club is happy to announce that we are fortunate to be one of 676 organisations across England who have been awarded a part of a £23 million fund announced today - September 13th 2016.
We will use the funding to purchase a PlayBridgeDealer4+ dealing machine and other related items. We believe the new equipment will enable us to attract more members and thereby grow attendance numbers thus reaching a larger part of our community. We also think the new equipment and the technical information it can provide will encourage player learning and personal development.
