Appeals Procedure |
Ross Bridge Club – Procedure for Appeals
In club events you may feel that the director has made an incorrect decision and wish to have it reviewed. Generally the director's decision should be respected but if you decide to make an appeal the following procedure will apply. First inform the director before the end of the session that you wish to appeal and why. The director will arrange a hearing at the end of the session or as soon as possible afterwards. Appeals concerning the Laws or regulations will be heard by the Chief Director unless he was the director in charge at the time, then another senior director, not involved with the case, will be nominated. Where a judgement is being appealed the director will nominate at least two other players of suitable experience and standing to adjudicate, he will not be part of the adjudication except as a witness and to advise on the applicable Laws. If the hearing is made at the end of the session it is preferable, but not essential, for all four players and the director of the event to be present. If a conclusion cannot be reached at the time, a written answer will be sent to the director who will convey the decision to the parties concerned, as soon as possible. If the hearing is to be at a later date the players and director involved must agree a written statement of the appeal grounds at the end of the session, for consideration by the adjudicators. The adjudicators will convey their decision in writing to the director who will convey the decision to the parties concerned. These guidelines are based on The White Book, sections 92/93 and page 212.
