RIPLEY BRIDGE CLUB
CONSTITUTION
PURPOSE To enable membersto play bridge in a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere and to take part in social events organised by the committee.
COMMITTEE The committee shall compris
Chairperson, Vice Chairperson/Treasurer, Social and Administration Secretary
The committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting to be held in late May/early June every two years.
A.G.M. The business of the A.G.M. will be:
To receive reports from the officers, to elect officers, to determine the annual subscription and playing fees for the unsuing period, to discuss any other business.
An extraordinary general meeting shall be called giving a minimum of two weeks notice when a request for such a meeting has been submitted in writing and
signed by at least one third of the membership.
The Club will be wound up when the membership falls to eight.
Any funds left on closure of the Club to be donated to local charities selected by the remaining members. Any tangible assets to be disposed of at the discretion
of the remaining members.
MEMBERSHIP The maximum membership shall be forty(40).
Visitors to the Club will be expected to join the Club after four consecutive visits.
FINANCE The Club is non-profit making with any surplus income usedfor the furtherance of the Club.
There will be an annual membership subscription and a weekly playing fee paid by each attending member. Visitors shall pay at a higher rate than members.
On joining the extra charged will be offset against their annual subscription. Subscriptions are payable by the end of June annually or at the date of joining for new members.
EXPENSES All expenditure will be authorised by the committee and will be solely for the benefit of the club. Any specific items in excess of £30 must be approved by the treasurer.
The committee will decide the level of subsidy by the CLub for any of the social events.
SOCIAL EVENTS The committee shall decide a rogramme of social events at its first meeting after the A.G.M.. Thes may vary from year to year but could include
an annual dinner, an Easter event, a summer supper, an Autumn event, a Christmas event, a bridge league team.
PLAY AT MEETINGS All matters such as the system to be used, method of pay, action on slow play and any complications arising during the session shall be dealt with by
the director at his/her discretion.
