Contract -6NT by East
The hand was sent in by Trevor who was urged to do so by the opposition as he played the hand so expertly. It was a hand played on Tuesday evening the 15th January and the lead was the 10 of hearts. The key play is not to rise with the Jack so Trevor won in hand with the King, he then crossed to the AK of diamonds and led a spade to the Queen ( It does not help North to rise with the Ace). Trevor then played out his minor suit winners. Dummy comes down to Spade King and Ace & Jack of hearts. North has to discard from spade Ace. Jack or Heart Queen/9. If North throws away the Jack of Spades he can be thrown in to lead in the heart tenance. As it was North threw the 9 of hearts and Trevor read the posotion correctly and played the Ace of hearts and the Jack for his 12th trick. Very well played Trevor |
