"Bridge is utterly compulsive once it has got hold of you. It isn’t too hard to learn and the joy is that you can play it and actually start enjoying it before you get very good. You can take it on at any level that you want.
The big problem is that very soon after you start you want to be brilliant."
Alex James, bassist in Blur
As well as being the No.1 EBU-affiliated bridge club in England, Richmond Bridge Club also boasts a thriving teaching programme for new and improving players. We are widely recognised for the quality of our teachers, teaching, course structure and materials.
At any one time the club has numerous groups of students learning to play the game or improve their skills. Our aim is to provide courses at different levels and integrate these with various supervised, novice and gentle sessions for improving players.
Our excellent clubhouse teaching facilities include remote screens and roof installed projectors, and we also offer some courses online. All this makes learning a real pleasure. The club is committed to providing a friendly and professional environment conducive to learning and meeting new people.
In autumn 2023 we have started three new beginners courses with 20-30 students in each lesson group (Tuesday mornings, Tuesday evenings and Thursday evenings). We started a fourth course in January 2024 with another 15 students on Thursday mornings.
We can sometimes accommodate late-joiners so please get in touch asap if you would like to discuss joining one of these groups. Otherwise our next course will start in September or October.
