With regard to Holidays, how about bridge and ski-ing? |
Trevor King currently arranges 4 weeks of Ski and Bridge in the winter months in the French Alps...beginners to Bridge and to Ski-ing are welcome, as they teach both! Or why not try a week of sightseeing and walking in the French Alps in June or July 2008 , where the Bridge is again taught and played at a very gentle pace. Log on to their website, www.AlpineBridge.co.uk for details. There are also many photographs on the Archive pages.

First for Bridge Holidays - Martin & Judy Holcombe - Entry Form here |
www.bridge-holidays.com
This is a tuition based holiday for the less experienced player. Venue: the 5 star La Quinta Hotel Menorca Date: 25th April – 2nd May 2008 Tutor/Director Andrew Kambites System: Standard English/Acol. We do recommend that the student has had at least 12 months of tuition and that he/she has played some duplicate bridge. (we have coped with a number of students that haven’t) This particular holiday runs on the format of a seminar in the morning, an exercise based on the seminar in the afternoon, and duplicate bridge in the evening. (usually 18 boards) We introduce teams on at least one evening. We insist on a ratio of one qualified EBUTA teacher per 20 students with a maximum of 60. We are very very protective this week and are very pro active in promoting good behavior and avoiding criticisms at the table.
This week is followed by an improvers holiday at a different hotel in Menorca, this is celebrating its 10th anniversary this coming year. 2nd May – 9th May 2008. This differs slightly, it is still tuition based with a seminar daily but it goes in to a lot more depth, and at least two seminars will be on the hands played the night before. There is no restriction on systems ie Benjy is allowed and played quite extensively. For the past two years at least half the students from the 1st week have also come to the second and we have had the satisfaction of some of them winning the Swiss teams we run at least twice. We increase the number of boards played to 22 in the evening and run open pairs in the afternoons.
