 RBC Bilbey Cup |
The Bilbey Cup is awarded twice yearly for the periods March to August and September to February, based on results obtained in the Duplicate Pairs events held on Thursdays. It is an individual handicap competition, but anyone with a Laycock Cup handicap of +2 or better (i.e. an on-going average percentage score on Cup Tuesdays of 48% or better) is not eligible. In order to qualify it is necessary to play in at least 8 of the Thursday Duplicates in the period with at least 3 different partners. One's average percentage score over the period is then adjusted by subtracting one's average percentage score over the previous 6 monthly period and adding 50. Anyone who played less than 6 times in the previous 6 monthly period is awarded an average score of 50% for that period. The winner is then the eligible player with the highest adjusted score. |

The Laycock Cup is awarded twice yearly for the periods March to August and September to February, based on results obtained in the Duplicate Pairs events held on Cup Tuesdays (i.e. the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month). It is an individual handicap competition, where ones handicap for the period is calculated from ones average percentage score in ones previous 25 appearances on a Cup Tuesday. For those with between 10 and 24 such appearances ones handicap is based on ones average percentage score over all appearances. Those with less than 10 such appearances are not eligible to qualify for the Laycock Cup. In order to qualify it is necessary to play in at least 8 of the qualifying Duplicates in the period with at least 3 different partners. One's average percentage score over the period is then adjusted by subtracting one's ongoing average percentage score calculated as above and adding 50. The winner is then the eligible player with the highest adjusted score. |
