Émilie Richer first  bridge masterpoints (.56) playing with Dad

When Émilie attended to watch a live duplicate bridge during the Christmas break, rather than kibbitzing her Dad she was lured to play in the  Wednesday instructional section at Carlingwood . But as there weren't enough players Tony and friends just played with Émilie ,allowing her to be declarer whenever Tony won the contract. That was her first live bridge. She really liked it and kept playing her daily internet program with bots  (all players other than self are bots, other players play the same hand with the bots and you compare your results with other live players-a form of duplicate)

When she next returned to Ottawa with grandkids in tow, she now wanted to play a real duplicate with Dad ,even though the only available game was (gulp) the Monday afternoon open game. Her second live bridge game. Her first duplicate. The night before Dad explained take-out doubles work and how she must never pass it out.

The next day ,she was declarer on 9 of 24 hands (57% rating. Same as Dad). And won second place East-West. Her first masterpoints. It was April 1 but no joke.

0-750 Limited game on Tuesdays at 12:45 PM

A Wednesday 0-750 limited game  and supervised beginner game (chalk talk 9:15 AM ; game at 9:30 AM)

Location is St. Elizabeth's Church 1303 Leaside Ave.

Carlingwood memberships ($10 per year Oct.1-Sep.30) are available at the game.
