THE DAVID SOLOMONS MEMORIAL TROPHY
Many of you will remember David Solomons with affection. David was my friend and sometime bridge partner for over 50 years. He was without doubt the loveliest of partners and opponents in equal measure. He combined an expertise in playing the cards with a wonderful attitude at the table, being respectful and kind to friend and foe alike. Tragically, after a long illness that he bore so bravely, he left us in 2013.
His wife, Pat, has donated a cup and £100 prize money for a Duplicate Bridge Event to be held every year in his memory. Sue and I are pleased to have been asked once again to hold it at The Queen of Hearts Bridge Club at Finchley. It will be on Thursday 3rd November and will be incorporated into our Regular Duplicate Session, starting at 11.00am. The Trophy and £100 prize will go the leading pair, as in previous years. In addition, we will be again donating an additional £40 to be given to the runners-up. (Our normal prizes will go to the pairs finishing third and fourth).
We look forward to you joining us for what will be a sad and yet happy occasion in memory of one of the true gentlemen of the game.
