Welcome to the Poynton Duplicate Bridge Club website and don't be put off by the photo. It was taken at our annual dinner and we won't expect you to be formally attired on normal club nights.
We run a small and friendly club playing duplicate bridge every Thursday evening in the Council Chamber of the Civic Hall (just off Park Lane), the only exceptions being at Christmas and on the night of the annual dinner, usually held in February. The room can accommodate about ten tables, but around seven would be occupied on a typical club night.
We try to create a relaxed atmosphere but, at the same time, we encourage both a good standard of bridge etiquette and careful observance of the rules.
We are not affiliated to the EBU and are therefore not involved in the Masterpoint scheme or the NGS. However, we do provide small cash prizes and compete annually for several trophies. Click on "Competitions" (to the left) for details.
Visitors are very welcome. We don't operate a hosting system but will try to find a partner for you if you need one.
Play starts at about 7.30 and players are asked to arrive by about 7.20 so that the Tournament Director can organise the duplicate movement.
Please click on “Information” for further details, inluding how to find a partner.
