Welcome to the Poynton Duplicate Bridge Club website.
Poynton is a small and friendly club and not all members are as miserable as these four on the right. We play duplicate bridge every Thursday evening in the Council Chamber of the Civic Hall (just off Park Lane), the only exceptions being at Christmas and on the night of the annual dinner, usually held in February. The room can accommodate about ten tables, but around seven would be occupied on a typical club night.
We try to create a relaxed atmosphere but, at the same time, we also encourage both a good standard of bridge etiquette and careful observance of the rules.
We are not affiliated to the EBU and therefore do not award Master Points, but we do provide small cash prizes. Visitors are very welcome, but might die laughing at the standard of our bridge and we don't operate a hosting system.
Play starts at about 7.30 and players are asked to arrive by 7.20 so that the Tournament Director can organise the duplicate movement.
