Summary of Competitions

Club Championship sponsored by Mark J Ruffles, Auditor

The club's match pointed pairs championship. There are 10 rounds, held on the first Wednesday of the month between June and March (but 8th Jan not 1st). The highest total of best 7 scores wins. £30 prize for winners, £20 for 2nd, £10 for highest non-expert pair (no Regional Master or higher, as at 1 June) outside the top two.

Teams Championship

Teams of four championship. 10 rounds, usually held on the last Wednesday of the month between May and March (but not in December). Best 7 scores count. £40 prize for winners.

Non-Expert Teams

Awarded to the highest placed team in the teams championship with either (i) no player of rank Regional Master or higher or (ii) two players below the rank of Master (5000 pts). £20 prize for winners.

Pivot Teams

A teams competition involving switching of partners during the evening. It runs from June to March with the best 7 from 10 results counting. Held on the third Wednesday. £40 prize for winners

Peterborough Pairs  Blue Pointed Event

Held every year since 1963, the club’s prestige two session pairs event is held on consecutive Wednesdays in April, with each session counting equally. Now with Blue Points awarded at district level.     
                               
Committee Cup

Cross-Imp scored pairs held usually on the 2nd Wednesday starting May (not every month, check calendar for dates). Best 5 from 10 to count.

Ladies and Men’s Pairs

Single session pairs competition, held annually.
 

Improvers Cup

Awarded to the player with the biggest average percentage increase this year. Minimum of 20 scores on Mondays and Wednesdays.

 

Alpine Bridge Pairs sponsored by Alpine Bridge, Ski and Bridge holidays

Competition for Thursday players, with a £20 prize to the winners. Held on the 1st Thursday of most months between May and March. Best 5 from 10 scores to count.


Handicap Trophy

Each result will be adjusted by applying player’s individual handicaps, which use their current National Grading System rating. The best total of 10 scores to count. Usually on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month, starting in May, but check calendar. £10 prize to winner.
