Course Outline

Weak hands with six card suits are quite common. Previously these hands were passed and you had to wait for a chance to overcall. This meant that their pre-emptive value was lost.  Benji Acol is the answer!

Transfers

Level - participants will have a sound knowledge of basic Acol

Course Outline
Using transfer bids means you can play more contracts with the strong hand hidden, and helps you to find a safe spot to play when your NT opening bid gets doubled.

Please note that there may be some changes to this outline.
1.   Red suit transfers
2.   Full transfers over 1NT
3.   Transfers over 2NT (including continuations and slam tries)
4.   Defences to 1NT doubled - includes exit transfers and Helvic

Level - participants will be familiar with the basic techniques of declarer play including establishing by force, tricks from length, finesse, using trumps to create extra winners by ruffing, and planning
the play.

Course Outline

1.   Keeping control of the trump suit: combating the forcing defence;
2.   When is it ok to ruff dummy's losers and when is it wrong?  managing a 4:3 trump suit;
