Cafe Bridge in Henley - 26th April 2016

OBA Social Bridge is running one of the ever popular Cafe Bridge events on Tuesday 26th April in Henley.  Details and an entry form can be found by clicking here.  The event is currently fully booked.

Bridge on Tuesday evenings

From 1st April 2016 bridge on Tuesday evenings at 147 Banbury Road will only take place on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday each month. These are the events run by the Oxfordshire County organisation. Details of the competitions can be found on the OBA website: the first Tuesday is a multiple teams event and the third Tuesday is a duplicate pairs event.

Website changes - 1st April 2016

We have made a number of alterations to the website effective from 1st April 2016 which reflect changes at the club. As we enter the new financial year for the charity you will find updates relating to the following:

  • the infomation about regular sessions is now accessed via the box on the top left of the home page screen.
  • an updated version of our session guidance document "Playing Bridge at OBC" and more comprehensive information about the sessions that we run.
  • the responsibility for sessions on Monday evening and Thursday morning is now with OBS. The sessions will continue under a new name "Learn and Play". We welcome all the players.
  • the Tuesday evening session will no longer take place on 2nd, 4th and 5th Tuesdays.
  • we have adopted colour coding from the "Playing Bridge at OBC" document for our calendar entries.
  • there are additional pages for events: one for special events at the club premises, and one for special events around the Oxford area in which readers might be interested.
  • further updates on the OBS education programmes. See particularly the separate announcement about beginners courses which will be starting in the Autumn.

A number of members have indicated they do not recognise the club officers and trustees   So a set of pen pictures is now available on the website by going to the menu item "About the club" and then clicking on the sub-menu item "Trustee pen pictures".  Alternatively, you can click HERE.

Oxford Bridge Learning - Thank You

The Morrie Marsh competition in 2016 marks the end of an era.  For the last seven years the club has been fortunate to have had Oxford Bridge Learning looking after all the teaching at the club and running sessions for novices on Monday evening and Thursday morning.  Melinda Jordan and John Briggs have worked tirelessly to introduce new players to the game and to help them in their first steps in playing duplicate bridge.  We owe them a debt of gratitude and thank them both.

The club has accepted the challenge to continue their efforts.  A teaching programme is already under way – the details can be found on the Education pages.  From 1st April 2016 the club will continue running the sessions on Monday evening and Thursday morning under the label “Learn and Play”.

Regular Sessions

The information about regular sessions has been moved to the area of the website called Where can I play?   A permanent link will be kept via the top left hand box above the menu on the left.
