Membership of the Club

Oxford Bridge Club welcomes bridge players of all levels from those at the start of their bridge playing life to experienced players of tournament standard.  Membership categories cover Juniors, Students, Associate Members, Visitors and Full Members.

Members of the Oxford Bridge Club are interested in:
Ÿ
the enjoyable playing of contract bridge in all its forms but particularly duplicate pairs, team competitions and rubber bridge
Ÿ
participating in bridge competitions
Ÿ
helping less experienced players to learn and to play bridge in a friendly and supportive atmosphere
Ÿ
representing the club in other bridge events and competitions
Ÿ
improving their own standard of bridge and that of others
Ÿ
enjoying participating in a club that is friendly, yet takes its bridge seriously.
Members make the following commitments:
Ÿ
to abide by the rules of the OBC and EBU and to observe any instructions or regulations promulgated by the Management Committee
Ÿ
to abide by such standards of ethics, conduct, dress and behaviour as are appropriate to the playing of bridge and participation in communal activity.  
Ÿ
to encourage less experienced players and put them at their ease
Ÿ
to make some practical contribution on a voluntary basis to the running of the OBC since the club is entirely run by its members on a voluntary basis
Ÿ
to participate in any hosting system which the OBC may organise, unless granted dispensation because of extenuating circumstances, such as total dependence on other member(s) for transport, or long travelling time
Ÿ
to familiarise themselves with the Playing Guidelines, the Rules of the OBC, the Constitution and the Competition ByLaws
Ÿ
to log onto the club database called Pianola and to keep your email and postal addresses up to date as well as your telephone number.
