 West Riding Trophy Result |
 On Thursday 1st September Oakfield Bridge Club hosted a teams' match against Huddersfield Bridge Club to compete for the West Riding Trophy in memory of Ian Hazlehurst
Eight teams of 4 - 4 per club -played 4 x 6 board matches. Huddersfield won back the trophy by an impressive margin of 100 IMPs... but Oakfield fought valiantly with 6 wins and one draw over the session. The home team did well considering that half of Huddersfield's first team were represented including at least one Grand Master! We all ended up stuffed full of cake...kindly provided by members of the home team.
Sue Hazlehurst thanked everyone for continuing to support the event and presented the plate to winning captain Gillian Emerson.
Pearl Murphy, Chairman of HBC, thanked Oakfield for their hospitality.

Committee election and duties
Members of the new committee for 2016-17, elected at the recent AGM, have taken on particular duties. If you have a query or need information about a particular topic, please consult the appropriate member.
Bob Mercer (Chairman) has taken on the role of competitions' liaison, dealing with all matters to do with internal and external match fixtures.
Elaine McKinstry (Secretary) will also deal with club publicity.
Ann Newby (Treasurer) liaises with outside agencies re lettings and charities.
Shirley Gowers is in charge of maintaining and promoting membership.
Sheila Nolan looks after refreshments, catering and hospitality.
