How Does Café Bridge Work?

You play a few hands in one café, then move to another.  You get lunch wherever you are at 1pm.  Then move again.  Castle Barge       Gannet’s       The Ram

All players meet for registration with complimentary refreshments at Castle Barge, The Wharf, Newark between 10.45 and 10.30 am.

You choose where you would like lunch on a first-come basis.  That determines your starting venue and direction.  That may be up to 10 minutes gentle walk, so please arrive promptly to register, enjoy refreshments and allow time to get to your start.  There you play 3 x 3 board rounds of bridge, and then have lunch (included).  You walk to the next venue and play again, and so on throughout the day.  3 x 3 boards x 3 venues = 27 boards in the day.

Extra refreshments will be available for purchase at each venue if required.

At completion we congregate back at Castle Barge for convivial drinks, a post mortem of the day and a raffle; results and prize giving will be at around 4.30 or 5pm. As you will be walking between venues please wear comfortable shoes and note that there will be steps and stairs at some venues.

CHARITY BRIDGE DRIVE AND AFTERNOON TEA

In aid of St John Ambulance

Nottinghamshire

The charity bridge and afternoon tea event held on 31 July at the Mansfield Bowls Club was attended by 30 players from four Nottinghamshire Clubs – Mansfield Mechanics, South Mansfield, Retford and Mansfield Bowling Club.

Winning Pairs were – East/West – Liz Rothwell and Bernard Plumb of Retford Bridge Club; North/South – Jan and Alex Fraser of South Mansfield Club.

Val and Bernard Hill kindly ran the bridge and produced the scores.

Donations of raffle prizes, cash and all manner of homemade cakes and sandwiches made for a very successful and enjoyable event which raised the sum of £554.50.     We hope to make this an annual event.

This money will be used by St John Ambulance to teach first aid in Nottinghamshire schools.

The Nottinghamshire County Priory Group is very grateful for all the hard work and generous support given to this event.  Thanks to everyone who played a part in its success.
